What Zammoth is

Zammoth is a native macOS application for music production: audio and MIDI recording, an arrangement view, a mixer, a piano roll, a Loop Deck for launching loops, a synthesiser, a sampler and a drum rack, 26 audio devices, and hosting for VST3 and Audio Unit plug-ins.

The engineer is the part that is new. It is an AI that operates the same controls you do. Of the application's 322 commands it can run 292, from moving a fader to building a vocal chain or mastering to a loudness target. It also answers questions about music and audio engineering, and it measures the session before it answers a question about your song.

Two things are fixed by design:

• Your audio stays on your Mac. Recording, playback, rendering, analysis and stem separation run locally. The engineer is sent the conversation, a description of the session and measurements such as loudness and spectrum. It is never sent audio.
• Every change can be undone. The engineer's moves are ordinary changes to ordinary controls, and each request is taken back in one step.

How it is built

Zammoth is a native macOS application written in C++. The engineer runs on Anthropic's Claude models through an API key that each user supplies, so its use is billed by Anthropic to that user and not through Zammoth.

Status

Zammoth has not been released yet. Its beta opens soon on Apple silicon Macs, and the list for it is open at zammoth.com.
