Clipper
Peak clipper with a knee that runs from soft to hard and oversampling up to 8×. The display plots six seconds of peak and RMS level against the threshold, marks each peak it removed in dB, and reports the crest factor in and out. Holding Δ plays only the removed material.

Parameters
Pre-limiter peak clipping — loudness and bite before the limiter.
| Parameter | Range | Default |
|---|---|---|
| Threshold | −12…0 dB | −3 |
| Hardness | 0–1 (soft ↔ hard) | 0.5 |
| Output | ±12 dB | 0 |
| Oversample | 1× / 2× / 4× / 8× | 1× |
Controls and display
The OS header button cycles oversampling (higher = cleaner, adds reported latency); the Δ (delta) header button, held, monitors only the shaved-off material.
Oversampling is 1 / 2 / 4 / 8 and nothing between. A value in between snaps DOWN to the next real factor — 7 runs at 4×, not 8 — everywhere: on the knob, in what the project stores, and in the offline render. Turning it on adds real latency, which the app compensates for; on saturation and overdrive, where a Mix knob blends dry against wet, the dry is delayed to match, so a parallel setting stays parallel instead of combing.
Surface (the crest tape): six seconds of the master with the loudness (RMS) as a solid band under the peaks, the input peak faint, the output peak bright and the dashed ceiling across it (drag it in the focus pane; double-click for −3 dB; the THRESH knob follows) — everything the input reaches above the ceiling is filled red: that is the shave, and the biggest hits are stamped with their dB. The column beside it is the payoff: IN and OUT bars on one dBFS scale, each from its loudness up to its held peak with the ceiling across both, the CREST IN / CREST OUT cells and the WON numeral — the dB of peak the clipper removed without lowering the loudness, which is how much further the limiter can be pushed.
The three knobs sit under the tape beside the SHAVE · LAST HIT, DUTY · 1.5 S and SAMPLE PEAK OUT cells; under the column the OVERSAMPLE pads (1× 2× 4× 8×, click in the focus pane) and the TRUE PEAK OUT cell — at 1× a flat top overshoots the ceiling here between samples, oversampling holds it. In the focus pane the TAPE · SCOPE chip swaps the tape for the shave scope: the wave at sample scale with the top coming off — the input as a faint ghost, the clipped output bright, the shaved caps red, the ceiling as ± dashed lines under the 0 dBFS line — where HARD is visibly the shape of the corner (round shoulder / blended knee / square edge).
The same switch as view.clip_scope.
